The C4000 from AKG is a large-diaphragm, multi-pattern condenser microphone that is designed for recording vocals and instruments in professional or home studio applications.

The C4000 has a one-inch, dual-diaphragm condenser transducer that is designed to achieve a warm and dark-sounding tonal character that is ideal for recording brighter sound sources such as brass and thin, trebly vocals. Furthermore, its transformerless electronics lend to less distortion at higher sound pressure levels. Also designed for low self-noise, the C4000 can be used to record quieter sound sources such as acoustic guitars.

In addition, the microphone is equipped with a polar pattern selector switch with cardioid, hypercardioid and omnidirectional settings for increased versatility. It also has a -10dB pad switch that can be used for recording louder sound sources such as electric guitar cabinets.
